The Brief
Meridian had built their MVP in-house and raised a seed round. Before hiring engineers to build V2, they needed proper product design: an IA that won't need to be rebuilt, a component library, and screens the team could actually build to spec.
The Approach
Emma ran a three-week discovery phase with six customer interviews, identified that users primarily needed three jobs done (track KPI status, investigate anomalies, export to stakeholder reports). The resulting design reduced the main navigation from 11 sections to 4. Component library was built in Figma with auto-layout and variables for light/dark mode — 80+ components, all documented.
The Outcome
The V2 build launched on schedule with zero design revision cycles required by engineering. Meridian's CEO used the design presentation to extend their seed round by $400K, citing product maturity as a key investor factor.
