The Brief
A personal project born from a desire to publish visual work outside client briefs. Each issue explores a single theme — Issue 3: 'Threshold' — through contributed photography, short fiction, and original illustration.
A self-initiated biannual art and photography zine that Emily edits, art directs, and distributes — now in its third issue, stocked in 12 independent shops across BC.
A personal project born from a desire to publish visual work outside client briefs. Each issue explores a single theme — Issue 3: 'Threshold' — through contributed photography, short fiction, and original illustration.
Designed and produced entirely in-house on a Risograph printer for a lo-fi, high-craft aesthetic. Each issue pairs two ink colours and an uncoated cover stock. Emily art directs all contributed imagery to ensure the issue reads as a single unified piece, not a collection.
Drift Issue 3 sold all 300 copies within six weeks of release. The zine has been cited in three design school syllabi and was shortlisted for a Western Canada independent publishing award.
